Etisalat has created the establishment of
Emirates Telecom Lab in 1999. With its state-of-the-art facilities, this
Type-Approval unit is now the only existing telecom equipment testing
facility throughout the Middle East.
Manufacturers & Equipment Suppliers must submit their products here for
rigorous testing and checking before they are allowed to start marketing
these items to the UAE market.
The
Type-Approval process itself involves a comprehensive range of tests in a
controlled laboratory that check the safety, electrical and operational
characteristics of the product. To protect the end-user, none of the
equipment that interferes with the Etisalat (UAE) network will be allowed
into the UAE market.
On successful completion of the
tests, each product is awarded a unique Type- Approval reference number, the
lists of which you will find in this Guide. Armed with this reference number
the manufacturer is now permitted to market his product and in particular
attach the official Type Approval label to it.
